We opted for a leisurely start and breakfast in camp as we had to leave for the airstrip at 0830. We breakfasted with an American couple, Steve and Val, who were off to see the gorillas in Rwanda but their flight was after lunch.
We said our goodbyes and headed off to the airstrip - a few animals came to say goodbye but luckily not many as I had packed my camera. Our flight was the first Regional Air one to land, it only took the two of us, so we were quickly on our way and we headed off to Saskwsa - a private reserve where we loaded up with passengers. Once there I tried the poshest washrooms on the circuit - at the recommendation of the pilot-and he was right they were nice. Full we then completed our trip to Arusha where we changed planes for the final 15 minute trip to Kilimanjaro. As there was an hour or so wait we bought 1 coke @$4 and 1 bag of crisps @ $3 - rather expensive!
We arrived in Kilimanjaro about 1pm ish so immediately checked in for our 3pm flight to Nairobi. The flight was a little bumpy as there was lots of cloud around but once in Nairobi we roared through immigration, collected our bags and booked a taxi to the Eka hotel which was a 15-20 minute drive away. Evening traffic was already building so I was glad our hotel was close. The Eka was a great hotel, relatively new, nice bedrooms, great staff and good food. I even got a swim in their lovely pool - cold but once you were in and swimming it was fine.
We set the alarm for 5am and had an early night.....as we need to leave at 7am tomorrow - according the taxi driver who said he would come back and collect us in the morning and take us to Wilson airport.
(Today's photo is of the vulture's tea party we witnessed on our last night in the Serengeti.)
