Friday was Rachel's birthday! We woke up early and started the drive to Queenstown, where we were staying with Dan's friend from Uni, Joey. When we reached Queenstown the sun was shining and we had a look around the town. The shops were really good in town and J bought Rachel a top. We met Joey in the Ice Bar, where she works and she let us in for free which was great! The bar was awesome and had lots of different sculptures and chairs made from ice. Joey gave Rachel a birthday shot down the luge made from ice and a cocktail, even the glasses were made from ice. It was so cool to be able to go inside and great to meet Joey. After arranging to meet Joey later after her shift we went to go and get a famous 'Fergburger' for lunch. The burgers were sooo delicious and huge! We went for the classic with cheese and sat by the lake. After soaking up some sun we headed back to Joey's where we met her flat mate Will and sat on their balcony drinking in front of a beautiful view of Queenstown before Will had to go to work. Ben then came round after Joey came back from work and we chilled before heading in to town. We went to World Bar first where we drank shots from teapots, before heading to Cowboys to ride the Rodeo and drink from Man-handles. The drinks were huge! We sat and chatted before riding the Rodeo. Rachel was the useful wimp and asked to get off before it went to fast. The controller liked to stitch the men up and J ended up burning the inside of his legs by trying to stay on a bit too much! We all then headed to SubWay for food as Rachel has a new found love for it!
The following day we woke up late and headed in to town where we started to walk up the Mountain overlooking Queenstown with Joey and Will. It was a long, steep walk which took about an hour. Most people get the gondola up. After taking some photos at the top, we all went to watch Joey do the Ledge Bungey. She managed to jump twice, the first backwards and then running and jumping the second time! It made us think about possibly doing one, but after watching her it made us too nervous, although if we could of got a free jump too, of course we would of had to take the opportunity. Unfortunately or fortunately we didn't get to jump. We then got the gondola back to town and headed to Fergburger again, we had different burgers but they were equally as good, if not better! The day was really sunny so we headed to the park to play Frisby Golf. Joey and Rachel were not so good but the boys did well, although not as professional as some of the players who caught us up. We didn't play all the course and found a nice bench with a great view of the lake. Greg joined us before we headed back in to town. Greg was the guy who works at the bungy. Will then went to work and us four went to Surreal for some cheap drinks. Joey introduced us to raspberry cider which was really nice and we sat on balcony of the bar in the evening sun. The bar had planned for the cool evenings and provided blankets which was awesome and meant we could stay outside until late. We spoke a lot about living and working in Queenstown and both felt really persuaded to extend the trip to work as we loved Queenstown and had such a great time, but who knows! We then headed to Searle Lane for some more drinks and cheap pizza. We played a couple of games of pool, Rachel managed to pot the black to win after a terrible performance which was lucky!
The next morning we headed back in to town with plans to sit by the lake and have lunch. Unfortunately it then clouded over a bit so we looked around a few shops and said our goodbyes to Joey who it was great to meet up with, we had such a nice time with her we would of stayed a lot longer but had to move on.
