I've finally arrived! I've been in Sydney for 2 days now and absolutely love it. The flight here was so so long and i hardly slept a wink. Shattered when i arrived at 8am on Saturday morning when greated by grey clouds and rain! Still warm at around 20 degrees however. I'm staying in Coogee (pronounced cudgee) which is a beautiful small town on the coast about a half hour bus ride out of Sydney city centre.
Having arrived i spent the day trying to stay awake down at the beach with some of the guys who i'm doing my first week with. I'm in a 12 bed dorm share currently with 7 other girls and 4 boys. The rooms are simple and the showers aren't great but when you can look out the window and see the sea, it makes it all worthwhile.
Saturday turned out to be a lovely day in the end so managed to soak up a few rays. Its hard to believe its now actually decemeber! Yesterday, Sunday me and some of the others took a trip into Sydney city centre and then took the ferry over to manly, which is across the harbour from Sydney. Its a beautiful little place, very busy and quite a touristy place. It seems a lot of locals live over there and take the ferry over to Sydney for work (it takes about half an hour). We sailed right passed both Sydney harbour bridge and the opera house which was veru exciting to see up close! Once on Manly we went to a gorgeous little beach hidden away called Shelley Bay. You could take your own food and cook a bbq but unforunetly we werent this prepared!! The weather was lovely yesterday, so so hot but still mild for them apparently! Its been mid to high 20s and gets up to 40 in the middle of their summer time....!
Things are pretty relative here on price however alcohol is much more expensive. Havent been out on a night much as i've been shattered from travelling. I don't feel too jet lagged, however my body clock still isn't right. I slept from 8pm until 5am this morning. it doesnt feel so bad being up so early as the sun was out and the weather lovely. I took a walk around the town and across the beach before breakfast.
Today we kick off activities with the ozintro group. We're heading into Sydney to see the sights before jet boating around the harbour. I've been careful not to burn but still look as pale as i did when i got here!!
