On the way up to our next campsite, we found a good little town called Kempsey. Seumas was really interested in this as it wa the origin of where they make akubara hats. We watched a cool little video on it and went looking for some. I was going to buy one but they cost about $180! (£90!!) so I decided not to. We did manage to find a good camping store where they sold some mugs, gas canisters and other little bits we needed. At the supermarket we managed to find a cafetier and also bought some dvds (the hobbits and 2 seasons of arrow). We then headed off to our campsite. We decided to spend a night just below Byron bay and I'm glad we did. The cmpsite was just beside a river mouth and it had a massive stretch of beach all next to woodland. We set up camp in basically a car park and had a walk along the beach until the sunset. I cooked up another meal and headed onto the beach for a bit before sleeping becuase we were going to watch the sunrise the next morning.
We woke up nice and early and headed onto the beach with our camping chairs and cameras. The sunrise was pretty spectacular and I was glad we got up so early to do it. Afterwards I went back to sleep for a bit while Seumas caught up in his travel journal. We then cooked a breakfast and headed to Byron!
Byron bay is such a hippy place, I love it! Because it was Anzac day, we didn't realise that it would be so so busy! All of the many campsites and dorms were all full and it was illegal to park on the side of the road so se had to find somewhere close by. After asking in a caravan park we found somewhere that was 10 minutes down the road and still on the beach so we went there. This was a pretty cool place as it had a laundry and power. This meant I could charge up my laptop and get done the much needed washing! We headed onto the beach and then stayed there for a while under the stars (the sun sets at 5:20) and then headed back to cook. I decided to cook up a curry and popadoms. This was very spicy! I had bought a 'hot' curry powder, not thinking it would be that hot. It was. With beer and water we managed to eat it all though. We chatted for a long time until we went to sleep.
