Jono's Travels
We leave the Plitvice Lakes today and make our way to Budapest in Hungary. Surprisingly still having a hard time getting up this morning I felt good, surprisingly no sore legs considering we walked about 17km yesterday, I opened my door to my cabin to head to the showers and was treated with an awesome rainbow outside my door, thankfully my camera was right next to the door so was able to grab it and get a photo before the view changed at all. After getting ready for the day ahead I packed my bags and made my way to the bus, no breakfast for me this morning, really didn't feel like any. We made our way to Budapest making a couple of stops along the way due to the driving limitations that are imposed on any coach driver in Europe. We arrived in Budapest and started our driving tour around the city seeing some of the suggested sites that we might like to visit either later today or tomorrow. I actually learnt something new today, Budapest is actually two cities, one site is Buda, the other is pest, hence the name Budapest. I decided to stay at the hostel this afternoon to try and get my washing done as I have an urgent need to get my clothes washed again. Unfortunately this easily going to be a simple thing to do today as it appears that everyone else who has arrived from every other tour groups needs to do their washing as well. In saying that, the washing itself wasn't so much of a problem, the biggest issue was doing the drying. I will have to wait until I get back from dinner to do the drying as otherwise I simply won't have time. Tonight we will also be meeting the 12 new people who will be joining our group. It's going to be strange to have that many joking at once, but I guess by the end of 2 more weeks together we will all know each other quite well. We gathered downstairs at 7pm where all the new people gathered as well, while we didn't have introductions at all I guess we will sort of meet everyone as the trip continues on. We walked for about 20 minutes down the road to where dinner will be tonight. With 26 people or so I'm supposed we didn't loose at least 1 person on the way. We walked downstairs into the restaurant and sat and waited for our orders to be taken. With so many people talking it got quite noisy and I just had to get out of there for a while as it was just a giant echo chamber. I made sure someone new what I wanted to order and then headed outside for about 10 minutes of peace and quiet. Dinner was a huge meal, probably the best one or at least the biggest one I've had since I've been on the tour. I couldn't actually eat it all unless I wanted to feel completely bloated for the rest of the evening, so instead I just set it aside. After dinner we headed off to a bar to have a couple of drinks and meet the others, the bar was quite funky and very large inside, split into an indoor and outdoor area as well as and upstairs area as well. Unfortunately it was way too dark to get any descent pictures, but it was a nice place. I stayed for one drink and then made my way back to our Hostel so I could do the drying of my laundry only to find the dryers were all full, despite three of them being finished. I waited around for about 10 - 15 minutes in the hopes the owners turned up to clear them, they didn't so I decided stuff it I'll just move their stuff out of the dryer and they can get it off the top (I put it into a bag), after loading the dryer I waited around for about 30 minutes before heading upstairs, making sure to check how much time was left before I needed to come down, about an hour, while meant 12:30am. I got down at 12:20am to find that my laundry had been removed from the dryer and placed on top, apparently the unit had stopped and the maintenance guy had said to the person who was using it to remove the stuff... I can only assume the person who had been using it before me had opened the dryer and hadn't started it again when they found their stuff on top. I grabbed my stuff and headed upstairs to hang it up before going to bed.
