Hey everyone.
Back in thailand now, we were going to stay in Penang for a few days but on the way we were reading the old trustee guidebook and it said it was a dump, so we werent that up for it. When we got to Butterworth (where you catch the ferry to penang) we got dropped near the train station. We were planning on catching the train to thailand in a few days we just want to check how much and what time. We got told that the train comes at 1.15pm but its delayed today and is due to turn up any second now. we knew this was a sign so we hopped on.
After 5 hours on a bus from Cameroon Highlands we are now on a train for 5 hours to Thailand (we love it!) Got to the Thai border and we are s***ting it to be blunt. Thailand have recently changed their rules about visas but no one can understand the new rules. roughly they used to be you can cometo thailand and automatically get a 30 day visa, then after 30 days just popover to another country for 5 mins get your passport stamped and then go back to Thailand for another 30 days. Some travellers have been doing this for years and this is what Kris and i where planning to do so i could do alot of diving and get myu qualifications up. But now the government have supposedly stopped visa runs as they are known, and every traveller needs a visa to go to Thailand or a onward flight. When we arrived at the Malaysia/ Thai border we had neither but i wanted to take the risk and i had a couple of thousand baht (about 20 quid) to give to the customs man if needed (to be truthful with you al, i never have bribed anyone before. So i wasnt that sure about how you go about it, without looking stupid or insulting the man and getting arrested) So this is all going through my head as we are waiting in the queue to get through the border. And lucky us we have got the jobs worth official he is checking everyones passport for visas, so it looks like back to Malaysia for us to sort out a visa or buy a flight. When we finally got to the front he glanced at the passports and stamped us in straight away, easy as that, why was i worrying and no need for a bribe!
So we got through the border then back on the train to Hat Yai. southern Thailand has been abit dangerous in the past with terrorist activity so we were quite glad to be on the fast train with no stopsto Hat Yai.
We are back in Thailand and it feels like we have never left. I cant belive we have been to 4 differnt countries in 2 weeks (sounds abit rushed doesnt it) the only problem is i dont know what money im spending anymore is it Dong, Riel, Ringit, baht or pound!
Just chilled out the night and booked us on the first bus to Krabi pic below.
