Ok we got a bus here it took about 2 hours and we had to get off and walk over a couple of borders, then we got to Kowloon island and had to hop on the MTR like london underground. Its so easy though everythings in english.
We got to the hostel luckily the aussie lads knew where it was because from the outside it looks abit like a shopping centre but you get a lft to the 13th floor and thats where the hostel is. every floor in this building has about 2 hostels. the aussies are one the 6th floor.
our room is quite nice and has a tv but we have noticed already Hong Kong is expensive its like English prices for the rooms and for the food. Kris went to eat at Tgi Fridays (real chinese!) and i went to a Sushi restrurant with a conveyer belt, and you paid by how many plates you had i loved it and tried loads my favorite was crab meat and caviar! expensive taste! also the wasabi (abit like green horseradish blew me away i swear steam was coming out my ears.... very hot)
We are having abit of trouble over here because its Chinese New Year loads of places are closed so we cant go to any embassies for visas and we need to wait until kris' credit card gets here and the post is abit messed up at the mo
we went down to watch a carnival and we were near the finish i thought we had a perfect place to stand there were loads of people around when the floats finally came around the corner towards us they turned off their lights and drve off! this really was the end of the carnival! i looked around and realised there were no locals with us they must of been down another road but because it was so busy and all the roads were closed so we couldnt really get around. but overall it was still better then folkestone carnival!
Yesterday we went to a massive mall with 700 shops Kris was in Heaven i was in hell until i came to a Lacoste shop with a sale if i wasnt traveling i would of gone mad, i just bought a really smart polo shirt for about 30 pound it would cost about 80 back home. I had sushi again last night but felt really rough after i dont think my body likes raw fish 2 days in a row!
Last night we went to the New Years Fire work display in Hong Kong Harbour, in chinese beliefs they do them to scare away demons for the new year so louder the better. It was the best firework displayi have ever seen (yep even better the Folkestone sports centres one) in the papers it said hundreds of thousands of people turn up each year to watch it and it really blew me and kris away it was really amazing!
Today we just had a walk around because its still a public holiday alot of places are closed, we went into an irish pub for lunch and they were showing Liverpool vs Galatasaray which was cool. Kris had a full english breakfast and i had cottage pie ive missed english food. it really didnt feel like we were in the far east sitting there in the pub! We are making the most of normal food until we hit Cambodia and vietnam and start eating weird food again!
We went to down to the promenade Lastnight where they have a statue of Bruce Lee and loads of Chinese Celeb hand prints, which is quite cool. Then we watched a lazer show across the harbour.
Ok today i was very naughty i jus bought a Psp, it was an early birthday present to myself i love it! We went to Victoria Peak at night for the best views of hong kong. We had to get a tram to the top but it had loads of shops and resturants up there which was nice, and then we saw all the lights of hong kong coming on it was really amazing the best sky line i have ever seen! just loads of mad skyscapers which light up and then they do a lazer show from the roof of them everynight at 8pm.
Yesterday we went to Hong Kong Disney land, its where Miracles happen and we just acted like kids and skipped along the path holding hands! there wasnt many rides there so it wasnt as good as the one in Paris but we saw the Disney parade and all our favorite disney characters! We saw sleeping beauty and she is a chinese girl with loads of white make up on. She lookedlike Michael Jackson
Today we went to lantau island and saw the Biggest Sitting Budda in the world. we had to queue for over an hour to get the cable car up to the temple, which has loads of shops outside including a Starbucks! then we had to walk up 250 steps to the bottom of the statue, it was really busy up there but amazing. On the way back down the wind picked up and the cable car was shaking all over the place which was abit scarey! and i kept on saying Thats not meant to happen!!
Our last night in Hong Kong we are going to miss it its definatly The West meets East!
Thailand tomorrow and the beginning of our South East Asia Adventure!!
