Kris didnt want to go to the glacier but i really did so i booked myself on the three quarter day tour. they give you all the equipment waterproof trousers, big coat, hat, gloves, socks, walking boots and clamp ons which help you walk on the ice.
We got a bus to the valley where the glacier is, then we had to walk 45 minutes to the base of the Glacier. Then we had to put our ice shoes on andclimb almost vertical steps in the ice for about 1 hour (i thought taking my dog up the hills was a hard walk)
The Glacier was just amazing, we had to walk through ice tunnels which were really narrow, it just didnt look real. We had a quick tea break then started exploring the glacier we were proberly up there for about 3 hours and that was enough really as it started to rain when we were up there and i just knew we still had a 2 hour walk back to the bus.
It was an amazing day and what an experience im so glad i did it, it was hard work but well worth it
