Hello from the beautiful Thai tropical island of Koh Chang.
We left the very boring town of Koh Kong in Cambodia behind on the morning of the 4th of July – American Independance day. Brishay woke up doing her salute with her hand on her heart thinking of her Old man back home chomping into his Turkey, Mashed Taiters and Cranberry Sauce hahahahaha. Travels were all straight forward apart from a couple of hours waiting about inbetween buses at the border crossing. The border crossing was no problem and our 2 entry visa was stamped and we headed for Trat to get the 45minute ferry to nearby Koh Chang.
Finally........ yes Travel Fans FINALLY we have came to an island and the Weather is wait for it... SUNNY! Every island we have landed on our travels either has been over-cast or pishing it down. So to say we were happy when we arrived at Koh Chang ferry port in glorious sunshine would be an under statement. Lets hope it stays like this for the remainder of our tour of Thailand.
The 5days we have spent here has been quite uneventful really with us just basically chilling out at the beach or at our bungalow. We did explore the island one of the days on a motorbike we rented which was good to see. We went right around the island checking out a few more of Koh Chang's gorgeous beaches which our favourite one was a very secluded Long Beach. We were the only ones on the beach and it had the warmest ocean water we have ever felt... was literally like being in a heated swimming pool. The views from our drive around the island were again beautiful with the neighouring islands of Koh Kud and Koh Waw clear to see in the distance. We came across 2 snakes and a large lizard scampering across the roads here which isnt suprising as the island is very jungle clad.
We have loved our time here on Koh Chang with the weather being sunny and everything nice and cheap due to it being Thailands so called 'Low Season'. The island has a very mellow/chilled out vibe and has been a very relaxing 5days/nights. Would recommend Koh Chang if you are on this side of the Gulf of Thailand as have said is very relaxing but with a good nightlife which suprisngly we havent really dabbled in as much as we usually do lol. We leave here on Saturday morning heading for Koh Samet, which is further along the coast towards Bangkok.
Over and Out...
