Sawatdee Everyone (Hello in Thai)
After a month in Thailand we have managed to learn two words, hello and thank you :)
Well its been a while since our last blog but to be honest there isn't much to report because of all the rain. Since Koh Phi Phi we have been to Krabi for one night.....it rained. Ao Nang for two nights.....it rained and then to Phuket Town.....it rained, but not as much. So our days have consisted of venturing out in the torrential rain to grab food then back to watch DVD's on the netbook haha.
When we arrived in Phuket Town the rain was finally coming to a stop. That night we went out to do a little shopping and it turned out to be very successful. Shay found very good hair straighteners for £20, she was delighted to have a pair again. Then Jonny found a sports shop selling the real Bangkok football top for £3, so he was delighted. A very good shopping trip.
The following day we set off for Patong in Phuket which is supposed to be quite a party sort of place so we thought we would stay there for 2 nights since it was the weekend and have a night out. Well....Patong is a hole. Its seedy, dirty and not that great of a place. Good for one night out but other than that it wasn't great. We were glad to be leaving.
We took the bus from Patong to Khao Lak, just north of Phuket. Shay managed to find a cheap hotel on the beachfront with a pool and AC in the room, so we landed lucky. Khao Lak was just what we needed, it was so relaxing and peaceful. Nobody pestering you to look at their stuff and the beach was beautiful. So we ended up staying here for 6 nights just to chill out, get the washing up to date and finally start on our tan.
The first full day in Khao Lak we rented a moped to explore and came across a waterfall, you had to walk up a steep dirt track to get to it, where Shay was pooping it that she was going to get attacked by a tiger haha. Once we got there it was beautiful, the water looked so clear. Shay set off in the water first to get some photos. Only....there were lots of creatures lurking, something that looked like a lizard, lots of fish and what was possibly a snake....so she was out of the water after the photos rather quick. The waterfall was really good to see.
The rest of our time in Khao Lak was spent sunbathing, napping, eating, watching films. It really is a hard life haha. Was a brilliant week and now we are ready to be on the go again so it was off to Bangkok to celebrate the Thai New Year, which is a 5 day long festival called "Songkran" which is known to be the biggest water fight in the world. So it should be a good couple of days.
We took an over night bus from Khao Lak to Bangkok, possibly got 30 minutes sleep between us. We weren't sure if it was the stench of the toilets or the man in front of us snoring so loud that kept us awake......but we arrived in Bangkok after a long 12 hours.
Now to see what Thai New Year in Bangkok is going to be like.
