We going on a bus trip to see both the Roman Baths at Bath and the famous Stonehenge at Salisbury. This will take about 2hrs which will get us to Bath .The pick up was Glouster underground and the bus leaves smack on time. The weather is looking not to good so we could get a wet ass. Time pasted quickly as I had a nap. Off the bus ,a walk around the village ,then its our bus turn to view the baths
The baths are well preserved thermae spring in the city of Bath, hot water💦 constructed in about 70 A.D.The whole building is in good condition. Bathing was introduce by the Roman's as part of their religion. The Romans called the bath Aquqe Sulis, and this bath became famous throughout the Roman world. The bathers would pass between the warm room, then through a series of increasingly warmer rooms, then brace for plunge into a cold bath and finally a wallow in a warm streamywater of the Grand Bath. Today there is no swiming in the pools and it's been like that since 1978. The baths are on the world heritage list.
Now we leave and head to the the place that has recently starred in outlander ,"Stonehenge".This is another half hr away but as we arrive the sun pops through the clouds and we're on another bus to take us to where the stones are,now a short walk and there they are, big as life. Most of the stones weigh over 50tonne;so how did they move them to this site , a green paddock miles from nowhere. All 58 of us enter this sacred site , and we are all taking pictures and then as if to say enough is enough the sky started blacken from all directions. We took our photos,15 minute later we could see the rain coming.Shirley and I start for the bus,the rain closing in quickly , we got to bus a little wet but not to bad,and for a couple of minute the rain stopped .A lot of the others didn't heed the message and stay between the rock thinking they had out smarted the gods ,how silly were they. The sky open up in rage and the rest were soaked to the bone , the sacred place had won again.
We arrived home around 10:30pm ,it had been a fantastic adventure and a warning that there are weird things that can not be explained and maybe outlander maybe real LOL.
goodbye for now,
Shirley &John
