Dresden Germany
After an epic 14hr flight into Frankfurt for our night stay before heading to Dresden which again would be a night then a day before we head off to Prague.
We arrive in Dresden one of the oldest towns in Germany after 4hr train ride from Frankfurt which we left at 11:19 on the dot , these train wait for nobody that's why they stay on time. We met an enjoyable couple who were returning home to Dresden, very entertaining! They were able to chug 500 mm bottle of beer like it was water.
The 4hrs have gone by,the train is pulling into Dresden ,everyone says goodbye and we go our own way. Off the station to the taxi rank waiting and waiting and waiting still no taxi for anyone , Shirley rings the taxi no answer , 2 policemen walks by, I approach them and ask if there is some other place to catch a taxi ,they're not very interested . Suddenly with out notice ,hey presto a taxi, can only take one at a time. It is now that Shirley realises her phone is not working , we can't contact the owner of the B&B, the panic is rising and just before the peak ,hey pesto another taxi . We in an at the B&B in no time , but the area seems to be a bit questionable .
The lady is there and its like our first time in Italy 3 flights of steps ,but the room is very good ,has everything accept the one thing all traveller need these days and that is WIFI. Shirley is not a happy camper ,as we use this for a lot of our research , and of course I use it to keep up with the football. That all I have to say about that.
Day 2 exploring Dresden
I woke early and when Shirley got up she ask me to toddle off and get a bottle of water. I said ok that will take a little time as I tore a calf muscle carrying the big bags down the step at the station ,so off I go in search of the water and I was gone about 45minutes and as got to the door Shirley had her head out the third floor window like an old Italian grand ma asking where the hell had I been . She thought I was going to the small shop near by which I did ,it was shut, so I went looking further a field still no water . Shirley was worried that I may have fallen because of my leg and her phone didn't work so she couldn't contact me or I her. So it all came down to me being too literal.
Over that we're off to the old town of Dresden, where the area became more like a country town , lovely old architecture, different food styles and good shopping opportunities,as Shirley discovered.
We had an original meal of pork knuckle, saukreaut and potato dumplings and of course a glass of wine.
Having walked three times more than the 10,000 steps we are heading back to the apartment, but one for the road seems like the right thing to do so ,yeah you're right Just to say goodbye . Remember no WIFI hoping for a better out come in Prague.
See you all soon
