Today is our last in Lucca and we are going to find out what actually is Hidden behind these walls.
Again we start at the entry point call Porta Elisa and we walk a straight line to other end . On our way we see how at the beginning there are small shops nothing Flash but neat. And as each step takes us further to our ending the shop around us take on the image of a very busy social area. The small shop slowly disappear and the supermarkets and super clothes store are now filling the streets , Fine clothes ,art galleries, big butchers, gaming shops big tourist centre and of course bigger churches.
We make to the other end and marvel at the changes . It was like silk worm turning into a moth.Shirley decide the Roman amphitheatre would be something Historic to see ,so away we go doing what is not my best activity reading a map . The Piazza dell'Anfiteatro is a public square in the northeast quadrant of the walled center of Lucca, region of Tuscany, Italy. The ring of buildings surrounding the square follows the elliptical shape of the former second century Roman amphitheater of Lucca.
We find it and the shape is there and tiny pieces of the original wall are there ,and the only way for sure we knew it was the Roman amphitheatre was the plaque hanging over one of the entrances
Enough walking heading back to the B & B but first we are stopping off at Lidl to get salad, chicken ,wine and bread to make our own lunch ,saving money where we can.
Out for Dinner ,same place as last night which was Trattoria da Nonna Clara .The beauty of this restaurant is the variety of food .So tonight we were able to have entrée zucchini flower shared, followed by mushroom tagliatelle, both were a perfect way to end our stay in Lucca.
So the next 2 day we are moving to Morocco Maybe a blog but maybe not we will see what happen,
Bye for now John and Shirley.
