Well after the wind down yesterday it time to move on ,it was such a great time being back in the same area we were in 10years ago ,with friend we are lucky enough to still have.
Today we move to Lucca , where my friends Di and Karen travel with me all those years ago this time by train and bus ,you know the funny side to this.
It all when off sweet, just that half way to Lucca we changed from train to bus as there was a train strike this meant the bus needed to stop at every station from Pistoia to Lucca,it allowed us to see a lot of the countryside. Tomorrow we are going to walk the wall that surrounds Lucca and it's a long walk.
As in many other cities, the Renaissance walls that remain mostly intact today represent only the most recent fortified stage of Lucca. They replaced earlier medieval and Roman fortifications, modernizing and expanding the perimeter protected due to population growth and changing political and economic conditions. The Roman fortified perimeter was erected as early as 180 BC when the Roman colonia of Luca was founded,
We will return tomorrow all being we make it all the way around the wall.
love from us,
John and Shirley
