Passau
Today we started our first full day of our cruise in Passau, Germany. The town is situated on the junction of three rivers, the Danube, the Inn and the Ilz. The town has rich history with most of the town's wealth accumulating during the salt trade.
In the morning we went on a walking tour of the city and some of the key locations including the town hall, artists sector and finished at the Cathedral for a 30 minute organ recital on the second largest church organ in the world.
Following the concert we had time to explore the city. We found a delightful Praline shop that was wall to walk decadence. We managed to escape with only three pralines each, and they were exquisite. We the. Wandered amongst the shops and artist studios.
We then finished our tour with a visit to the Glass Museum. The glassware was stunning. The museum had an extensive collection and every nook and cranny was filled with display cases full of glass objects. It just went on and on, we don't think we saw everything.
We then returned to the boat for the next leg of our cruise down the Danube. Tonight's dinner was outstanding and totally destroyed our diets. Six courses including lobster, mushroom risotto, cream of celery soup, veal medallions and a chocolate decadence desert.
I have uploaded some photos to two galleries. I have more to add but due to internet issues I wasn't able to complete uploading them all.
