The Imperial Castle in Nuremberg
We started this morning with a leisurely breakfast after a short lie in. We then checked out of our hotel and headed up the hill to the Imperial Castle on the northern side of the old city.
The castle is quite a dominating feature on the top of the hill. The earliest parts of the Castle date to the 11th Century. The remaining sections of the castle were constructed over the next four centuries. Walking around the castle you get sense of what was once a very grand building. Overtime the castle has been modified and was also extensively damaged in 1944. A photo gallery has been added showing the castle and the view from the tower.
After visiting the castle we returned and collected our bags and headed to the station for the next leg of our journey to Passau where we will board our cruise along the Danube.
The train was on time (can't fault German efficiency) and we arrived into Passau around 2.30pm. A short taxi ride later we arrived at the River Beatrice, our floating hotel for the next seven days.
It's difficult to describe but the luxury just oozes from every part of the boat. The room, whilst small, is very elegant and sumptuous. The dining room and lounge are well appointed and exude luxury. Being an all inclusive trip the desire to over indulge is ever present.
After a brief welcome and safety brief we sat down to dinner. It was like the rest of the experience so far with mouth watering selections.. Low calorie options were available which was good, and the quality remained high. With included alcohol, watching how much we drink will be the issue. I'm already on my third scotch!
I have added a new gallery and will add new photos as I take them.
