UK Road Trip, Summer 2017
Drove through the countryside in search of Roman ruins. Interesting history but actual ruins require a good imagination. Arrived in Durham, the Oxford of the North. Our B&B is above a pub. Parking was a challenge!
While looking for dinner, we came upon the local theater and wandered in to see a not so great production of Great Expectations. Dinner at the favorite ethnic restaurant in England - Italian.

Lois Goodstein Speaking of sanctuary cities, on the main door of Durham Cathedral is a replica of the Sanctuary Knocker. Any fugitives who grasped the knocker were granted sanctuary for 37 days. They could then either face their accusers or be given safe conduct to the coast. So I guess Durham is a little like Jersey City?
