We arrived here from Chile and stayed in the pleasant, if touristy town of El Calafate and booked our tour via the hostel. We had heard great things about the glacier and we weren't to be dissapointed. The glacier is the size of Buenos Aires in terms of area and rises to around 60 metres in height. It's a truly phenomenal site and we're not sure any photos can do it justice. Every so often you could hear what sounded like gunfire but was in fact chunks of ice breaking off. A terrific day out although it was a little chilly to say the least!
