After so much driving and activity over the last few days we decided a much deserved day on the beach would be fun…. We picked Bar Beach as recommended by the trusty lonely planet and before hitting the sand decided to have lunch overlooking the ocean which ended up being enjoyed inside the camper due to a large group of hungry looking seagulls getting a little too close for Jo’s liking!

The beach was about 1.6 km of soft golden sand and unbelievably clean, we spent a while watching the surfers ride crazy waves followed by some daredevil stuff of our own…. Playing on the rocks and almost letting the white water splash us!! The afternoon comprised of chilling out sunbathing and a walk round Newcastle town centre.

All in all a very relaxing day although we left with almost the entire beach in our hair!
