Well we arrived back in Alice Springs at about 12.30 after a very hot but exciting week down at Yalara and Kings Canyon (Watarrka National Park).
On the way back from Uluru we decided to stay at Kings Creek Station $45per night. The camp sites were enormus another four caravans could have fitted into our spot we had our own kitchen sink and our own camp fire spot. They had camels walking around and even a calf who I think thought it was a camel. The station was 850,000 acres and Jim asked one of the staff how many cattle did they have, he said they didn't know until they rounded them up. We arrived at Kings Canyon to late to do the rim walk (too hot) so we decided to do the Kings Creek walk, it was still a spectacular walk and it only took about 40mins. When we got back to the caravan park we decided to fill up with fuel, $2.39 per litre our most expensive yet.
After getting back to Alice on the Saturday afternoon we set up the van and caught up with Daniel and on the Sunday morning we went for a drive to Trephina Gorge Nature Park, it was a lovely day and Jim went up his first 4wd track (only four kms) he quite enjoyed this after he stopped thinking about the fact that he only had one spare tyre. We got back to town did some groceries and I decided that we would have a roast tea, Jim finally pulled his BBQ out of the back of the ute for the first time since it was given to him by our friends in April. The BBQ did a wonderful job with our lamb roast, it was delish. It was great to have spent time with Daniel and Monday morning we headed up the Stuart Hwy towards Katherine.
