Dear Reem, Simon and Aria
Thank you very much for buying our accomodation in Bangkok for us. It really is rather nice. After having a mass debate about it, we ended up choosing the deluxe room in a very nice guesthouse just off the Koh San Road. We picked this particular guesthouse because it has a rather nice rooftop swimming pool, which is a necesity when you are trying to recover from drunken nights out til 6 in the morning drinking beer in the gutter with the rats and the cockraoches and the Americans because they are the only things still talking to us at that time.
The room has a very nice shower and fridge and a big tv that doesn't show anything interesting but looks impressive. It also has a very nice view of a watt just over the road out of the window. This is a rather nice surprise as most of the people we have spoke to tend not to have a window at all, or if they do then the view will generally be of the concrete wall or rubbish dump variety.
It was out of this window that I happened to see some chickens yesterday in the tree.
This is certainly the most exciting thing that I have seen in Thailand so far as I didn't know that chickens could climb trees so it came as a bit of a shock.
Thinking about it, maybe it it shouldn't be that much of a surprise, after all they are birds and birds do tend to hang about in trees.
It is just that chickens are such s*** birds that you don't really think of them as birds at all, more just food.
Speaking of animals doing funny things: we were highly entertained at breakfast yesterday by possibly the cutest little puppy you will ever see called 'Billy'. Billy was not only cute but seemed to have a very bad upset stomach. When you mix a small puppy trying to go to for a poo in a restaurant, an owner desperately running after Billy trying to clear up after him and me and Donna giggling away...
Billy then tried to clean himself up a bit by dragging his bottom through a dirty puddle. This seemed to make him feel better but given he is a creamy colour didn't do much for his appearance.
It didn't put off the 3 american girls who happened to walk past at that point and decided to pick him up and give him a cuddle. I hope they washed their hands before they next ate.
So with all that you may think we wouldn't have had any time for anything else but it is not true. On Wednesday we achieved not one but two whole jobs...
Firstly we bought a thai mobile phone, which is easier said than done when you are hungover. The number is 0066963393711. Unfortunately it doesnt have predictive texting so if you want to text us dont expect a long and thoughtful reply or even correct spelling.
The second thing we managed to achieve was to get a nice pedicure each. I won the who can produce the biggest pile of dead skin competition but I also managed to fail the who can get the Thai flag colours painted on their toenails because someone thought that it was blue, red and yellow.
Anyway, thanks anyway.
Love Donna and Jim
PS Donna is in charge of putting proper photos up so don't expect any any time soon.
