26th March up early for a motorcycle tour and it was great we were pillion riders, going into the countryside seeing well kept paddy fields and stopped at a Village market with an interesting assortment of vegetables and live animals for sale (I won't put you off you're dinner by saying what they were). Then on to a Nunnery, which many years ago a nun opened the shutters to see a newly born baby wrapped in blankets at the front of the nunnery since taking this child in and raising it successfully they've had many many more over the years, we saw lots of very well cared for infants the youngest less than a month old (Ga wanted to take her home ahh) Then on to an arena that used to stage elephants Vs tigers fighting to the death, very cruel because they removed the claws and sharpe teeth from the tiger, so the elephant always won. Next stop Hoi An which we loved visiting Chinese temples an old traders house (very well preserved) also an interesting cultural show which finished with a version of their bingo which I won !!! They got me on the stage singing Auld Lang Syne (weird) and presenting me with a lantern. We also had a great cycle tour in the countryside saw very well kept vegetable gardens and met a 91 & 94 couple married for 75 years, then a snack and after a boat trip, small bamboo crafts with a local rowing he used water coconut leaves to make rings, hats, spectacles and other tourist nick nacks. Fligh on to Ho Chi Minh City which is also mad 100000s mopeds but wider streets than Hanoi so not quite as crazy we saw the impressive opera house, the cathedral (showing signs of wear), the stunning Post Office (beautiful), war museum and Reunification Palace. Today a boat trip on the Mekong delta visiting ialands the photo is our tour group holding a rather large Python, we had a good day tomorrow off to Cambodia!!! J & G
