Monday 13th March we made our way to Chiang Khong and stopped off at Wat Rong Khun to visit the White Temple. This Buddhist Temple started construction 1998 by a wealthy Thai artist (Ajarn Chalermchai) it looks like a fairly tale castle with amazing paintings by him inside google him to see his work. 14th we crossed the border into Laos and traveled down the mighty Mekong River by boat to spend a night at a small town Muang Pakbeng where the local market sold dried squirrels, rats and live frogs for human consumption yuck. 15th another boat trip on the Mekong stopping at caves with thousands of small Buddhist statues, then arriving at the old Capital City of Laos, Luang Prabang. And it's buzzing although it's very isolated a lot of tourists come here so there's a market, restaurants and bars, until this Communist Country accepted visitors I don't know how these people made a living.
