Half day city tour 30th April was very good, in the afternoon we first visited an art gallery where Chinese art was explained to us, then a calligraphy lesson (fun). Then onto a emperors mausoleum from the Hun Dynasty which covers 20 square kilometres, featuring half size figures (men, animals, chariots and food stuff including the oldest tea in the world) all to serve the emperor in his afterlife it was fascinating.
1st May went to the Emperor Qin Shihuang's Mausoleum (Terracotta Army) before entering we went to a relative of the farmer who discovered the site and had a lovely lunch, seeing this wonder is jaw dropping 8,000 warriors with different faces, hairstyles and some on horseback or kneeling. Horses pulling chariots and some of the tools and weapons were chrome plated and look as good as new !!! These were crafted 254 BC with amazing skill for the first emperor of China. Overnight train then a Monastery for 3 nights so probably no blog for a while, it's not been easy using wifi in China and I've had to download a VPN app to just do the basics. J & G
