Arrived in China from Japan (which we enjoyed, their culture is so different to anywhere else on this planet but lovely people) 21st April flew into Shanghai with a four hour stopover, not much fun as they're doing a lot of modernisation to the airport. Then onto Beijing got to our hotel 19:30 settled in, had shower and I was in bed when Ga started screaming, we had a burst pipe in the bathroom we phoned reception and the maintenance man took ages by then our room was flooded!!! So packed up our bags and moved to an upgraded room, not a good start to China.
Saturday 22nd April spent the day at the Summer Palace huge grounds with lakes, temples and gardens, got there and back on the sub way with no hitches (bet you're impressed). Sunday walked to the Temple of Heaven which also has huge grounds with Temples and lovely gardens. Meet the tour group that evening our leader is half Tibetan and half Mongolian her name is Yang Yang, one of our party had his pocket picked £800 and his cards poor sod, anyway we helped him out with a loan £100 till he gets sorted (at a decent interest rate !!!!)
Monday 24th April had a bus ride to Mutianyu to walk along the Great Wall of China and it's a very impressive construction and took the toboggan ride down great fun but I caught up an old Granny with her brake on (it was Ga). J & G
