Bali
I got woken up at 6:15 by my neighbors. These stupid men were shouting and smoking like there was no one else around them trying to sleep. Luckily, I think it was the last day of their conference because after about an hour I heard nothing so I went back to sleep after "shush!"-ing those idiots.
I had breakfast around 9:00 and then got dressed and ready to meet Amber at Hardy's at 11:00. I took a cab that only cost about $1.50 and Amber came shortly after. She hit up the ATM and then we started walking to find a place for a massage. We passed by a couple and then settled on one that had a couple sitting inside. We signed up for an hour long massage ($5) and a pedi with polish ($6.)
We did our massages first. We both got taken into the same room with 2 beds. We stripped down and laid on the beds. It was nice and cool in the room with Kenny G playing in the background.
My masseuse was wonderful! She really worked on my shoulders and lower back. She also kept pushing on my butt! When she massaged my legs, it kinda hurt because I had been sunburned the day before. But at the same time, it felt great on my muscles.
After an hour, we were done and headed out to the lobby for our pedicures.
I had stepped in some really dark mud or something on the beach the day before and it was stuck on my toe. The girl really did a nice job of cleaning it up. Amber and I both picked out a bluish green nail polish. They did a really nice job of polishing our toes. When we were done, we paid and left our tips and went to find a place for lunch.
We walked up and down the street to find a place to eat. We checked out some menus and found that a lot of the places were "expensive" by Bali standards. We finally found a place with curries and pastas for about $2 so we decided to eat there.
I ordered pasta bolognese and Amber got green curry. Mine came with tons of noodles and really watery sauce but I was hungry so it didn't matter. When we were done, I said bye to Amber and headed to go pick up my laundry that I had dropped off the day before at a little shop. My clothes were ready when I got there (about 10 shirts, 10 pairs of underwear, some shorts and a towel. They were washed, dried and folded for about $8. I then picked up the shuttle across the street back to the hotel.
When I got back I decided to take a nap. I was tired after being woken up by the guys in the hotel. I slept for a couple hours, read my book, and used the wifi.
Around 6, I decided to go look for a place to eat. There wasn't much right around my hotel and I didn't want do have to cross the busy intersection so I decided to try the KFC down the street. My mouth was watering thinking of the mashed potatoes and gravy and biscuits that I know from home. I was extremely disappointed to find the menu choices very slim: chicken, fries, chicken sandwiches and a ball of white rice. That's it. I settled on a chicken sandwich and rice ball and brought it back to my hotel.
The rice ball proved challenging to eat because as soon as you take a bite rice falls everywhere. I ate about half of it because it was just too much. I then decided to read the rest of my frightening book I had just started. It made me jumpy because any time I heard a sound outside or saw a gecko run across the wall I nearly fell out of bed.
I decided to go to bed around 11 so I could get up at a decent time and head to the beach before meeting up with my tour group later.
Until next time!
