Happy 4th!!! No fireworks around here :(
I woke up around 8:30. I checked my Facebook and Amber had left me a message saying her and Adam would meet me at my hotel in a couple of hours so we could head to the beach.
I went to get breakfast which was I retesting. I couldn't identify what half the items were. I recognized rice and veggies, neither of which I wanted for breakfast. I asked if they had scrambled eggs which they did. I had that with some pineapple and fruit juice. I then headed back to my room to get ready for the beach.
Around 10:30 Amber and Adam rolled up in a taxi. It was such a relief to see familiar faces after not seeing any for 2 weeks! We got the free hotel shuttle to the beach which was only about 5 minutes away.
We got dropped off at another hotel that had beach access. Adam went off to find a mat for the lounge chair and Amber bought a towel from a shop. We went to go lay out our stuff on our chairs but were approached by one of the women from the shop who said we couldn't sit in the chairs. She said they wrote reserved for guests. I told her our hotel dropped us off here and said we could use the facilities. I also told her no one was even on the beach or sitting in the chairs but she started arguing. I told her that's fine but we won't buy anything from her stupid shop or the bar if we can't have a chair. She started getting mad at me when a hotel worker came by. He asked where we were staying and I told him the Puri Dalem. He then said we could sit there if we wet from that hotel. The lady also said we could now sit there if we were from the Puri Dalem. She asked us why we didn't tell her where we were staying and I told her it was because she didn't ask.
We put our stuff down and I decided I still wasn't going to buy anything because she was annoying.
The weather was perfect. It was a bit windy and in the 80's. Amber and I sipped on some Bintangs (a local beer) and went in the water a few times. After a couple hours we decided to grab lunch. Sanur is a great little beach town we found a pretty cheap restaurant not far away. I ordered a steak sandwich and Amber and Adam got fish and chips. We got brushetta and guacamole for appetizers. Our total bill was only $17. Afterwards, we checked out the shops, including a department store called Hardy's that sold clothes and other souvenirs. I bought a couple things, including a Bintang tank top that matched one that Amber got.
We decided to go back to our hotels but to meet up later for dinner and the night market. We called the free hotel shuttle to pick us up.
When I got back I decided to chill by the pool for a while. There was no one there so it was nice and peaceful. I then went back to my cool room to take a nap.
Around 7:15 Amber and Adam came back to my hotel. We caught a cab to the night market which wasn't far from my hotel. There were tons of food carts and we found one that gave you a whole plate of food for $1. I had a Sprite so my whole meal cost about $1.50.
We walked around the shops for a while. The market was much smaller compared to the other markets I've been to. We then walked around the shops on the street. We found a cool arty shop where Amber and Adam bought a painting for Adam's parents. I really wanted one but I decided to wait til the end of my trip so I don't have to carry it around with me.
After walking around for a while, we decided to call it a night. We picked up a cab that took me to my hotel and then dropped Amber and Adam off at their hotel. We decided to meet up the next morning at Hardy's to have a girl spa day.
I headed back to my room and just chilled in the air conditioned room. There were a bunch of men at the hotel for some kind of conference and they were all outside by the pool being loud and smoking so I decided to not lay out by the pool that night. After reading for a while, I went to bed around 11:30.
Until next time!
