Welcome 2016.....
Isla and I woke up late morning, not feeling rough but certainly not Spring chickens. We headed down the beach to find a place for brunch and stumbled across this lovely restaurant that was built around a large tree. It had bird cages scattered around which contained exotic birds singing songs whilst people ate. We chose a pineapple and mango smoothie which was very refreshing and helped with the hangover. We then chose a prawn Spring roll starter which came with plum sauce, a chicken and coconut soup and a seafood sweet and sour stifry.
We headed down the beach to find the others and chilled in the baking sun and swam in the surf. The surf here is so big and strong like something you would see in Hawaii or California. Some people were out surfing but most people just stand in it trying to stay on their feet. On 2 occasions we saw people come in to difficult and needed saving by the courageous Thai men who just shot out on their jet skis and handed out life vests. A testament to their kindness and compassion to tourists.
We heard back into town in the afternoon to buy a selfie stick as I had lost ours at the full moon party which I don't remember and can't offer any explanation. We found one for about £1.50 and Isla took control of it to prevent it going missing. We went out for dinner in the evening to say farewell to Ella and Jody who were heading off to Cambodia. It will be a shame to lose them as it has been great fun and we have made new friends is Ben and Frankie.
Isla and I planned on leaving for Koh Tao the following day and headed to a travel agent to book the ferry. We encounter a very rude and obnoxious Australian man who whispered "impossible" to his colleague when we asked and tried selling us an excursion saying it would be the only way we could leave as the ferrys were sold out. We refused and headed to another agent, this time a local lady. She was extremely helpful and tried for 30 minutes to book a ferry but nobody would answer there phone, a sign in Thailand that everything is booked, D'oh. However she said she knew one more person but the office was closed, she advised to leave the money with her and she would call first thing in the morning from her bed.
We took her up on her offer and went back to the hotel fearing the worst. This was going to cost us money as we had already booked a hotel but would probably have to book another night on Koh Samui. We went to bed praying for God to help us get out of this problem and left the matter in his hands, went of to sleep to await our fate in the morning.
