Arrived in Perth to beautiful Sunshine and considering it was a Saturday everything was so quiet. Apparently everyone leaves the city at the weekend.

We checked into our motel which was the next step up to Bates's - we must have been having a tight moment when we were booking!! It was a bed for the night and the sheets and mattress were clean - Jen did check. Anything would have been a come down from the Shangri-La in Singapore as they even changed the carpet in the lifts everyday to distinguish what day of the week it was!

In the evening we went for a delicious Italian meal and lots of red wine, had a bit of walk about (now that sounds Oz) in the backpackers area trying to see what Jo might have got up to last year - it looked fun, oh to be younger.

Tomorrow we pick up the motorhome which will be our home for the next two months.

Thanks for all your messages; it is reassuring that we haven't been forgotten and we would love to talk to everybody in person but this will have to do.
