Our Kiwi companions left the campsite a couple of days ago for their drive east and we have spent much of this time on the local beaches and around the town while Fergal has been getting the once over from the mechanics.
As we are soon to be heading into a city again we have spent much time just walking along the beach when the weather has allowed as we know that it will be a long time before we will be able to feel the sand beneath our feet again. Unfortunately, every time we take time to enjoy the area it reminds us that we will be back in the UK all too soon!
Yesterday we cycled down to the next town a couple of kilometres away along the bike path that runs through the trees parallel to the local beach. When we came to the clearing at the other we found that there was very little in the area except another caravan park and a few people fishing out on the rocks and we went down to the beach to enjoy take in the views. From here we could see back along the beach on our right with our caravan park down the way and a few houses scattered along the hill side in the distance and we spent quite a while just sitting in silence taking it all in and wondering when we would next be able to enjoy such a surrounding.
This morning we picked Fergal up from the garage and he is now back with us with a brand new handbrake, a new bracket or two and an improved seat belt - good as new! We have also registered him to Western Australia so that we can sell him legally within the state and now a day that neither of us is looking forwards to is looming ever closer. In order to change the registration we had to get new number plates and when we asked about keeping one of them as a souvenir we were told that as we had handed them both in to the registration office they had to keep them, but had we 'lost' one of them there would have been no charge. Damn it!
All that remains now is to head off to Perth in a few minutes and then the final chapter of our journey will be drawing to an end.
