Around the World Forever
Sailing to Amorgos required the use of the motor 100% of the way. Today was the calmest wind and flattest water Captain Vince has seen all summer and there was no actual sailing. What was possible, however, was a stop in the middle of the sea to jump into the 200 meter deep water.... which leaves one wondering what really is below. Vince said this almost never happens so enjoy it.
I have also been given the job of anchorman, which simply means I have to push either an UP button or DOWN button on a control switch at the bow of the boat to raise and lower the anchor. Turns out it's a rather important job.
Amorgos Island has some unusual attractions that have been used in some film footage. The shipwreck in my photos, was put there on purpose for the filming of the movie The Deep Blue and I think the monastery we visitied was used in the James Bond film For Your Eyes Only. Amorgos was also a chance for me to meet all the other Gap Adventures skippers. ALL four of the boats were in Amorgos today and we were able to tie up three of them together. With a group like this drinking like sailors is not just an expression, it is a right of passage. In Greece, the local firewater is Ouzo and I have no problem saying out loud that it sucks!

Jane Cheng Haha, the only thingsI can read are Heneken and Mythos. :)
Jane Cheng Wow, sounds like you visited some totally different islands than we did, but that`s good. The boat I was on was just called Eva, funny how similar the names are, and yes Ouzo? Yeck!
