I am leaving Peru this morning on my way to Galapagos Islands, via Quito, Ecuador. My time in Peru has been interesting to say the least. But I will never forget the children over here, particlarly in Cusco where from tiny babies carried on their mother's back in shawls to the little ones dressed in traditional costume, they have huge beautiful eyes and are quite special. I will also remember seeing tiny chilren standing on the side of the railway when we came back from Machu Picchu, waiting for the train to slow so the staff could throw out to them the food boxes that the passengers had not touched. They darted forward, grabbed the boxes off the line and stacked them up and shared them out. It made one appreciate how fortunate we mostly are in the Western world. I will come back to Peru again, hopefully. It is a wonderful country with kind, caring people and lots more to do and see than I have had time for on this trip.
