Monday 18th Feb
Now in Lima, Peru and set off this morning for a trip to Lake Titticata, Puno, The Sacred Valley, Cuzco and M achuu Pichuu. Not had a good start to this bit of my trip as Argentina Airlines lost my luggage. They think it is in Buenos Aries but three days later and a bit fed up with wearing the same clothes (and wondering why people were avoiding me) I went to shop yesterday. So instead of seeing the sites of Lima I saw the inside of lots of changing rooms. A size 14 over here seems to be about a size 10 and it´s not because I have put on weight. Anyway as I have little Spansih I was struggling. Size 6 trainers please´ got lost in translation and I feared it was to be a long day. Anyway I lovely young lady who was from Liverpool called Helen came to my rescue in that shop. She is working over here and spent the whole day taking me to all the shops to get what I needed. She was a star. Anyway seven hours later and in need of some sustenance we chanced upon a local Psco Sour festival in the local park. Pisco Sour is a local drink. Not sure what is in it but egg white, cinnamon, some delicious but quite strong spirit and fruit juice I think. Having tried two or three free samples we sat down and after two or three drinks I started to see the day in a different light so what I feared would be horrendous turned out to be quite a good day. And I can always go and see another cathedral in another town can´t I? The next fun thing will be trying to get the money out ofthe airline - watch this space.
