We almost didn't bother visiting Slovenia as we knew nothing about it and, out of ignorance, assumed that meant it had little to offer, but we couldn't have been more wrong. The countryside that we saw from the trains is very pretty, with cute little villages dotted everywhere. Ljubljana, the capital city, is the first place we've visited that we've thought it would be nice to settle and live in. The city is just the right mix of beautiful old buildings, nature and modern western society.
The town centre is full of bustling pedestrians and is really pleasant to walk around, this is helped by the fact that cars were banned from the city centre in 2007. We started our day with a free walking tour which gave us a good overview of the history. With our new knowledge of the place we toured around, walked up to the local castle and visited the markets. Keeping up with local traditions, Jansen tried a horse meat patty burger which he thought was not as good as beef.
