The thing that surprised us the most about Budapest was the number of immensely impressive buildings, the city was full of huge Baroque, Gothic and Turkish style churches, palaces, baths, cathedrals, operas and more.

While we were in Budapest the streets were buzzing with Easter anticipation and we even got to go to lamb festival which seemed to be just more of an excuse to eat, drink and be merry amongst old castles.

We met up with some friends of Sonja's while we were there which was great because we got to do and see some less touristy things and got an insider's tour of the city. Having said that, they took us to a bar that is probably on the top of the tourist site seeing list but it was well worth the visit.

Meeting up with locals made a big difference so we definitely have a soft spot for the city and look forward to returning some day.
