We found Thessaloniki to be more of a means to an end, we had about half a day to explore the town and feel like we saw everything we wanted to see in that time. The town is interesting as it was a mix of the old town portion on the hill and the new town portion on the flats all the way to the water where many bars and cafes were filled with partiers regardless of the bad weather. There are Roman ruins scattered throughout the city centre and the buildings/roads are built around them, this seems to be a bit of normal thing in the European cities we've been visiting and it's interesting to see the locals walk around them as if they are a nuisance or not there at all.
