We found Nice to be a lovely city and a great first taste of France. The buildings are so French and the croissants are to die for. We were in a great hostel with a huge kitchen, common area and a very social atmosphere. Every night most people would sit outside, drink and discuss their travel exploits. From Nice we visited Eze, Monaco and Antibes. Eze and Antibes were nice enough but nothing too outstanding, Monaco on the other hand was fantastic. We happened to visit on the day before the Grand Prix Historique was due to start which is a race held one week before the Monaco Grand Prix. The whole city was transformed into a race course which we could freely walk through and see the entire track. The cars that were going to race were all being readied in some display area which, to Jansen's delight, was also open to the public. The city (or principality) was just a display of wealth surrounded by some dramatic looking cliff faced mountains. The harbour was also worth a look as all the most expensive yachts were docked in prime viewing position. Even if the race track and associated attractions were removed it would still have been worth visiting.

peter Lucky Bugs to get so close up to all those wonderful cars, a little envious I am but very pleased for you.
Jans Yes it was dumb luck, but I'll take it, seeing those cars was pretty cool.
