Another early start to travel south to Cooinda and board a boat for a 2 hour cruise on Yellow Waters Billabong. There were plenty of crocodiles to see, some wild horses and several new birds for the boys. Their tally now stands at 255 species for the trip. We then travelled back for a cool off in the pool (36 degrees today!).

Together with the Pecks we learn about rock art and the indigenous culture of Kakadu as we have a tour of the Ubirr site with a local ranger. We then joined a group of local women weaving baskets from pandanus fronds before heading to Cahill's Crossing where at high tide (some 80 km inland) the crocodiles feed on the barramundi trapped in the crossing rocks.

Jabiru, Northern Territory

Kakadu here we come. A drive out the Arnhem Highway to Jabiru where we set up camp for a couple of nights and enjoy a swim in the pool before watching Rabbit Proof Fence on the big screen. It was a very good movie which we all enjoyed.

Darwin, Northern Territory

Into Darwin to complete some maths tests at the library for a couple of hours and then stock up in readiness for leaving Darwin in the morning. We went around to the Free Spirit caravan park for a BBQ tea with the Pecks and caught up with Derek, Danni, Clay, Greta and Ivy who we hadn't seen since Carnarvon. Berry Springs, Northern Territory

An early start to get to Berry Springs and the Territory Wildlife Park (NT's version of Healesville) where we arrive in time for the bird display at the flight deck. Here we saw many birds of prey and a jabiru come and go on command and show off their hunting skills. The park also had a great aquarium, aviary and nocturnal house. Afterwards we had a swim at Berry Springs.
