Jane and Malc's travels
Back to city life! It\'s Christchurch easing us back into it before we head back home on Monday. We\'ve just returned from Kaikoura, a gobsmacking wildlife haven. We did the whale watch and saw 7 sperm whales, each bigger than the 16m boat we were on. We were accompanied back to shore by a school of Dusky Dolphine, perhaps 300-400 of them, all swimming around the boat. It was a scene that cannot be put down in words. The fact that they have \'relations\' with each other 7 times a day explains the numbers there! There are seal colonies all along the coast and huge numbers of rare seabirds. London it is not.
Before that we did another glacier trip, this time to the base of Mount Cook. The weather cleared long enough for a brief view of the mountains and then closed in (AGAIN!). The picture perfect reflections in Lake Tekapo never happened, 24 hours of low cloud and heavy rain did and it was snowing by the time we left! Oh well - good ski season on its way but let\'s not go there!
So Christchurch it is. Seems like a nice place so far and Jane has found her love of shops again. We\'ll add an update before we go. The trip started with shopping in New York. It looks like it may end that way too but in Christchurch!
