Hey Stu - good to hear from you. Glad you didnt major in geography or you would have failed miserably! Cambridge is East of London - Oxford is West and is between Bath and Stratford and we didnt go there! Have the antibiotics kicked in yet or is that the p;roblem? Give our love to all the sickees - sorry to hear you have all been sick. We are very well thanks!
To continue...
It's hard to believe we have come to the end of our UK experience. Drove back down to London from Cambridge this morning and did OK with our navigation except that we ended up on the M1 heading Nort andh before we realised it and had to do a Uee - only 6km out of our way but that ended up 12 km I suppose so things a little tense for a wee moment. We got to Avis and in the pouring rain had to offload all our bags and other …things we had accumulated in the car. It was not the most pleasant experience but worse for Kev than me as he then had to go hunting for a cab to transport us to our hotel. Eventually arrived safely but couldn't check in as it wasn't 2pm - what is it with UK hotels that they won't check you in before 2pm? We dropped off our bags and went to find something to eat. Colleen had told us about St Pancras Station (which is where we have to go tomorrow to catch the Eurostar) so we went there to have a look. Its very impressive with a huge curved roof all glass and everything inside is sparkling and new. We could see the Eurostar ready to depart but were not able to get close to it. You have to go through a security clearance before you can get in to the area. Jannie had a wee problem with all of the announcements being made in French!! "This is still England"
We found a nice café and had a platter and a pint while the rain was pouring down outside. We decided to pay Marie and Damien a visit to drop off a few bits and pieces and pick up Kev's watch he had delivered to them. We were about to set off when there was the most amazing electrical storm and the most impressive clap of thunder which gave me a huge fright! Eventually we got on our way - only one stop on the tube to Highbury from Kings Cross - a doddle really. Damien came to meet us halfway at the other end and we arrived safely. Had a nice cuppa and catch up with them and have just arrived back at our hotel in time to pack up our things for tomorrow.
The Eurostar leaves St Pancras Station at 10.25am tomorrow and we will be in Paris at 13.47pm - trip takes 2 hours 22 mins!

Sandy Burton Hi, It was nice talking to you in the weekend. There is always a bit of a delay on the line but amazing considering you are round the other side of the world. We had a lovely time out in the boat yesterday afternoon. Steve had itchy feet and so we took it out for a spin and had a hot choc and cake on the water. It was so still and calm. Like a sheet of glass-just how I like it :) Chris and Sarah came around for the afternoon and stayed for tea. Tahlia is really growing and we had lots of cuddles. I'm just off to Greymouth so thought I would drop you a line and will get some photos sorted at the end of the week. Sounds like you are having fun. Take care will talk again soon Love Sandy & Steve x x
Stu Not according to your little map below! That'll teach me for reading the map!
