What a great sleep – woke at 6.45am, breakfast in the basement dining room with the United Nations then back to the room to plan the day. Consulted the walking book (kindly supplied by our friend Colleen) and decided to do Bankside to Southwark one. Not sure what the story is here but not many people around early and when we stopped for coffee on southbank the café’s were only just opening. We went to Giraffe’s which was where we had been in 2006 with J&P – good coffee! Highlight of the day was a tour of the Globe Theatre which was fascinating and the Borough Market. Such an array of food it was amazing and just bustling with people! Walked over Tower Bridge and past the Tower of London – we had been and done a tour there last time so didn’t bother again. We had a long walk back along the North Bank because both circle and district tube lines were closed for the weekend. Got home very foot sore and tired.
Tomorrow we are off to Hampton Court Palace with Marie and Damien, meeting them at Vauxhall station.
