We took the overnight sleeper train from Chiang Mai to Bangkok. Jamie was less than impressed that the waiter had charged him 50p for putting up a table we hadn't asked for. We arrived early morning and after several attempts to get the taxi driver to put his meter on, and numerous wrong turns down dodgey side alleys, we eventually made it to the guest house recommended to us. Was a great find! Brand new, very cheap, private bathroom with hot water and had a fantastic view over the river. The only downside was the pitiful fan blowing out hot air, to which we later discovered (after sweating our arses off all night) had cooler settings.
We spent the nights down Ko San Road with the ladyboys, or girls? Not too sure? And the days in air-conditioned shopping malls. Shame we didn't have the bank account to buy any Prada or Gucci, or the 100k Porsche Jay had set his sights on. We did however manage to stretch to the cinema. We saw a 3D film. To our amusement, it is customary in Thailand to stand and bow to the national anthem before the film starts?!
3 nights was enough as was really humid and busy. We made our way to the airport on the Thursday to catch our flight to Krabi.
