On our last day in Krabi, we decided to visit the Phi Phi Islands. The cattlevan, or 'bus' as they like to call it, picked us up from our guest house and headed to Ao Nang where we got on a speedboat. Having been sunburnt the day before, we weren't too pleased when the only two seats left were on the front of the boat with no cover from the sun.
Our first stop was monkey bay. Ironically, this hand Monkeys lining the bay. The next few islands were pretty much the same with time to snorkel. After that we went to Ko Phi Phi Lay, the smaller of the two where the beach was filmed. This was stunning. Cannot describe how beautiful it was. You just had to try and ignore the 20 odd speedboats rowed up in the shore line. Here, we did more snorkeling and then visited some caves. We went for lunch on Ko Phi Phi Don after. The only sign of the Tsunami hitting this area were the new evacuation signs. We were then dropped off in the middle of the sea for more snorkeling. The only let down was that the tsunami had killed all the coral around these islands. Our last stop was on a remote island called Bamboo island. This was by far the nicest and most beautiful of them all.
The boat then provided fresh fruit on the way home. Perhaps the highlight of the day was Jamie being mistaken by Japanese tourists for some Thai pop singer. He continued to spend the next 30 minutes having photos taken with them.
