Arrived late at night, headed to the cheapest area, Slough, sorry, we mean Little India. Here was our first experience of a dorm while traveling. Thank god, we headed back into civilization - KL, to get some shopping done. After a long hot walk from the bus station to find accommodation, we had to settle on the jungle lodge guest house. The rooms here were the length of the single beds - sorry, mattresses on the floor, with a foot in between one another to keep our bags. But it was clean with no bed bugs so we settled for it. From Langkawi, we headed over to Penang. Obviously not a particularly memorable place as we can't remember what we did… Oh yeah, we went to the cinema for a quid, including popcorn and drinks - but froze to death in the air-conditioning. We did contemplate watching another movie as it was so cheap but decided that was too sad. After a weeks rain, we were looking forward to some serious sunbathing action! Or at least Rach was. Just our luck that it pissed it down for the entire time we were there. We thought that seeing as we were so close to Koh Tao from Phangan, we'd hop over there to do some diving. So did the remaining 5,000 people on the full moon island. We got the early ferry (by this they mean pick you up at 7.30am and don't depart the pier till 11), and managed to get ourselves into a great diving school -'The Simple Life'.
