Sydney (27.08.2012): OHHHHHHH our last day of travelling is over!!! *SAD FACE* Had a great day to end our trip. We headed first of all to Bondi Beach. I couldn't leave without seeing the famous surfing beach. We spent awhile watching the surfers. We couldn't find anywhere to hire a board or we would have had a go. Amazing beach but Manly is a nicer place as the town was a bit disappointing. After catching the train back to Kings Cross we stopped off in the hostel for a quick change and then headed for the city. We had a walk around checking out the central area including china town. We then headed for Darling Harbour.
Darling Harbour is fab. I could spend ages looking round - a very pretty place. Adam's pick was the aquarium where we headed at 4pm. The aquarium had a barrier reef section which was good but when you have been to the actual reef I don't think we really needed to see it. We saw sharks etc. but sadly they had loads of works going on and the Dugong and Crocodile sections were closed. Also after investing 40 minutes in the platypus section we didn't manage to spot one! This means we definitely have to come back to OZ!!
After leaving the aquarium we headed for a nice meal on the harbour. Our first restaurant meal in OZ. I even splashed out on a cocktail. Final night treats! After we walked over the bridge to the Star Casino for a small gamble (I broke even but should have taken it out when I was $50 up - Adam won't let me hear the end of it) and a beer. It is midnight and we have just arrived back at the hostel. Time for packing! We fly at 15:45 tomorrow. EEEK!! It is a 22 hour direct flight arriving back in London for 5am. I can't believe we are at the end!!
What an amazing adventure and what fantastic memories. We have: visited four of the five OZ states; nursed elephants; been to the biggest temple complex in the world; walked in the world's biggest cave; mustered goats; climbed Ayer's Rock; driven 7500km in a campervan; thrown nets with a Vietnamese fisherman; been millionaires; been really poor; fallen in love with koalas; swam with giant turtles in the Barrier Reef; cooked up a treat in Thailand; visited a big Hong Kong Buddha; enjoyed a original Singapore Sling …
One last blog to go on landing in London! See you all soon! Fingers crossed for the in-flight entertainment working this time!!
