On the 6th we caught our flight from Seattle to Chicago. We spent most fo the day travelling as Chicago is 3 hours ahead of us!! We chose a hotel close to the airport just for the one night but regretted it when we had to wait 1.5 hours for the complimentary shuttle bus that supposedly runs 24 hours a day!!!!! Anyway we have a pretty quiet night.
On the 7th - Jacqui's birthday - we headed off to our new hotel - again close to the airport because it was cheap but this one was right next to a railway station So we dropped our bags at the Ramada - surprisingly cheap - and headed into town for a fun filled day. We headed up the Sears Tower - once the tallest building in the world but now stands at number 3. It was great - the views where amazing - Lake Michigan is soooooo big you can't see the other side - its like the sea. We had a wander to the Chicago Cultural Centre - which houses the most gorgeous Tiffany dome. The building itself was designed as a library and is stunning inside - one of the nicest we have both been in. We then decided to do a river cruise - where we saw all the lovely buildings in Chicago - new and old buildings mixed together. We saw the Wrigley Building, the new Trump towers being built, Sears Tower, John Hancock tower and many more. The cruise was even better with the Vodka Cocktail we had We then had a wander around Millenium park where there is a large silver bean - it reflects the views of the city and is very cool. As it was Jacqui birthday she chose to eat at the hotel and watch a movie. So we watched Fracture and it was great.
On the 8th we had late start as we where heading to a baseball match. Unfortuantely the railway was being worked on so it took us 1.5 hours to get in on the train and bus!!!! So we went for a wander around North Astor street which has some lovely old houses all the way up it and headed off to watch the White Sox's play the Minnesota Twins. The match went on for 3.5 hours and was a nail biter - Sox won in the 9th. We spent ages trying to work out the scoring and how everything worked!!! As we were both tired and the train situation we headed back after the game and watched Ocean's 13.
