On the 1st we had a nice sleep in and then killed time on the internet before heading to the airport for our flight to Vancouver. Uneventfull flight had a nice new plane so got to watch half a movie!!!! Must see the rest as it was good - Frature with Anthony Hopkins. Once we arrived we caught our seabus over to North Vancouver to our hotel. And a very nice hotel it was too :) Huge room overlooking Vancouver city - kind of if you craned your neck We headed off to a British Pub for dinner - nice to have some good beer says Neen 1 pint of Boddies
On the 2nd we decided to explore the downtown area of Vancouver so we headed across the water. We visited Canada place - a new building where the large cruise ships dock, had a walk down the old area og gastown, headed up the Harbour centre to get 360 degree views over the city - great views of the mountains from up here. Then we headed down to Stanley Park - large park at the end of Vancouver. As it started to rain we jumped on the free shuttle bus that takes you around the park. We then headed off into Yaletown and had a lovely dinner. We booked to go on a float plane and whale watch to Vancouver Island as well
So on the 3rd we headed off to catch our float plane to Victoria - the flight was 40 minutes in the smallest plane either of us have ever been on. It was also rather noisy. Victoria had been sold as a great place - whilst it was nice 5 hours there was too much! We did have a great breakfast at the Empress Hotel and also had a tour around the parliament buildings. We then boarded our boat trip to Whale watch and head back to vancouver - nice 4 hours!! But we were so lucky we saw loads of whales and they came very close to the boat. neen got some great photo's of one jumping!!! We headed to one of the best seafood restuarants in Vancouver which was great - food fantastic!!! Neen had oysters that came oh so close to being as good as the Irish ones!!!!!!!
On the 4th we headed up Grouse Mountain the highest point near to Vancouver. A nice sky ride through the clouds and then we ate lunch overlooking some of Vancouver - around the clouds. We then had a walk around and met two grissly bears - behind a fence though, we also watched a bird in motion show and then watched the lumber jack show which was so funny The we headed down to Capilano Suspension bridge over the canyon - this was great it wobbled and sprung around quite a bit. On the other side we walked along the suspension bridges in the treetops and got great views of the canyon. We then headed home and had a Japanese dinner - very tasty and very cheap!!! Alway good on a budget
