Thursday, July 10:
Today was our anniversary and we had a great relaxing morning getting set up and ready for our Deep Sea Fishing adventure. We headed in to Darwin and parked at Mindil Beach and caught a cab to the marina where we met our Deep Sea Fishing Guides and got on the boat. We went out about an hour to the open water and dropped our lines. It was not a terribly successful day on the water but the weather was beautiful and we had a lot of fun. Layla did not give up all day and ended up catching 3 fish, I caught 2 and Leanne caught one small yellow and blue fish. One of the ladies on the boat caught a small shark that we were able to touch and look at up close…too cool! We went back in to the wharf and got a taxi back to Mindil Beach to watch the sunset and hit the market. Leanne and I had an amazing burrito out of a trailer on the beach and Layla had some fish and chips as we watched the sun set over the ocean on the sand. After that it was to the market to watch a fire show and Layla had her hair weaved by a lady from Montreal. It was a beautiful anniversary and a night to remember. We went home very tired and headed to the campsite quite late and ready for a great day at Litchfield National Park.
