Tuesday, July 8:
Today we were determined to make it to Darwin, 3000 km from home in Clare. We drove and watched the scenery change from desert to tropics and the temperature rose from 13 degrees to 32 degrees by the time we made it to our destination, the Berry Springs Caravan Park just South of Darwin. On our way we stopped at the Mataranka Thermal Pools for a dip. The water flows through the jungle at 32 degrees and it was very pleasant after a horrible night's sleep. The swim was great but the spiders were something to be forgotten! It was a long, hot drive but we finally made it to our campsite with enough time for a swim in the pool underneath the palm trees and a look at the crocodiles in the creek. We are looking forward to our crocodile tour tomorrow morning!
