Today's Harvard day!
We decide to book a tour which is a steal at $10 each and the best bit is the guide does most of it walking backwards because she wants to be available to chitchat - yep she looks daft!
So, we get great knowledge on the history of the university and how John Harvard invested by leaving his will to the University helping establish it as one of the most prestigious schools in the world.
We see the past dorm buildings of Matt Damon, Natalie Portman, JFK and Mark Zuckerberg as well as the famous statue of John Harvard that is not actually him - all records of him where lost in a great fire so this is what they think he looked like. It also falsely declares him as founder and has the wrong year recorded as Harvard's year founded - it's famously known as the three lies.
We see Matt Damon's fav pizza haunt Pinocchio's and the famous stage where the graduates' speeches occur - it's stunning and shockingly can hold 20000 folding chairs - famous celebrities like Oprah and Natalie Portman etc speak each year - the buildings on this campus are so beautiful. Especially the library dedicated to the memory of Harry Widener who died on Titanic's crossing trying to bring home rare books, his mother heavily invested and created a clause in the contract that the stones could never be touched or the building renamed.
It's a great tour and then it's on to Charlie's kitchen for grub before we hit the hay.
